Weekly Wooot -- No Joy

Packed week of shows with the previously profiled Maus Haus at 111 Minna Wednesday, local kraut trio Bronze at Public Works Thursday and synth-heavy rock veterans Trans Am at Rickshaw Stop Saturday.

Our featured act this week is No Joy, who play Hemlock Wednesday night. The Los Angeles and Montreal-based act first made waves earlier this year when Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino dubbed them "the best band ever," launching a flurry of blog love for the noisy duo. And while we cannot yet confirm whether No Joy's live show will spawn similar hyperboles from us, their recently released Mexican Summer 7" certainly has us excited -- like just about every other release on the label this year (see: Tamaryn, Weekend, Young Prisms), the record represents the best of the recent shoegaze revival. With Vivian Girl's side-project La Sera and locals Wax Idols rounding out the bill we would not be surprised to see this midweek show hit capacity -- be sure to arrive early.

Plenty of other shows to choose form this week including dancey duo Tres Lingere at Madrone Wednesday, the red hot Pusswhip Gangbang at Regency Ballroom Friday and the previously mentioned Young Prisms at The Independent Saturday.
