Maus Haus, Rainbow Arabia, Pierre Le Robot @ Bottom of the Hill

We first caught Maus Haus at Cafe Du Nord in April and were crushed to learn it would be their last date until late July. The band's synth laden blend of 60s psychedelia and contemporary electropop was shockingly tight and orchestrated, a refreshing departure from the more DIY west coast electronic acts we love to hype.

The music is no doubt hard to classify (as evidence of the range, one blog recently pegged it as Battles-esque, while another as for fans of Beck/Portishead). The SF connection makes the previously profiled Battlehooch an obvious comparison, but with a decidedly darker and more downtempo feel. Seriously, just take a listen:

We Used Technology (But Technology Let Us Down) (note: this song is the fucking jam)

Rigid Breakfast

(...also highly recommend Dead Keys Drop over at their Myspace )

Oakland's Pierre Le Robot and LA's Rainbow Arabia open -- both are well worth a listen.

At $10, this one is not to be missed.
