Casy and Brian, Boyz IV Men @ Farleys

No reason to miss this no-cover microkorg party at Farley’s coffee in Potrero Hill. We caught Boyz IV Men opening for Religious Girls a couple weeks back and were impressed by the raw energy of their dance-friendly set. As we previously noted, the sound reminds us of the stellar synthpop currently coming out of Portland – shit would work just as well in a basement on a Tuesday as it would at Mezzanine on a Saturday. Expect great things from these guys.

Casy & Brian likely need no further introduction… the oft-mentioned duo is poised to explode on the scene after their summer tour, so this could be the last chance to catch them in house party mode. If you can’t make it out this time, be sure to catch them later this month at Kimo’s.

…and to sweeten the deal, word is complimentary booze will be flowing. Party starts at 6.

As previously noted, Oakland's Boyz IV Men are fucking solid... Remind us a bit of the excellent synth heavy/dancey shit coming out of Portland. These dudes can start a dancefest in a bookstore, so House of Nostromo Friday should be hot. Is saying "post punk electropop" totally douchey? If so, disregard.

With epicsauce favorite Religious Girls rounding out the bill, we may just have to make our quarterly visit to the East Bay two days early (sorry Dad!).

Thee Parkside has a sweet mostly local show with Casy and Brian, no babies, Boys IV Men, The Press Fire and Awesomes.

Along with Oakland's stellar Religious Girls, the locally buzzed Casy and Brian are helping to define an updated basement-friendly Bay Area scene. It’s a sound that at times feels like SFs version of the excellent shit coming out of LA’s institution The Smell.

Drum heavy and with clear punk/dancehall roots, the duo bumps out sporadic jams that will make you want to move. It’s raw, minimalist and certainly not for everyone, but be sure to give them a listen. As mentioned, the bill is rounded out with a few other local and non-local acts with a similar take on this vibe (also real excited for Boys IV Men). Should be a great show.
